Students must first successfully complete the five core units of the Assistant Agent Certificate before commencing the Certificate IV course.
Overview
The Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice is a requirement for all real estate agents working in NSW. Once a Certificate of Registration has been issued an agent has 4 years to achieve the qualification and progress to a Class 2 Agents Licence. Only Class 2 licence holders can do the full range of activities in sales, property management and business broking including signing agency agreements.

Packing Rules
Students must complete a total of 18 units (including 5 core units and 13 elective units) for the award of this qualification.
Students are required to complete all the assessment tasks of all 18 units and be marked as competent to be able to receive Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice.
Students will be able to learn the following skills to prepare them to work in real estate industry.
To achieve this qualification, competency must be demonstrated in 18 units of competency:
- 5 core units
- 13 elective units.
The elective units must ensure the integrity of the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualification alignment, contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome and are to be chosen as follows:
- all the elective units in any two elective groups from Groups A–L listed below must be chosen
- the remaining elective units may be chosen from the general elective units
Please note NSW Fair Trading has prescribed 10 of the elective units which cover, Group A – Residential Property Sales and Group B Residential Property Management
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification.
1. Complete Qualifications requires students to successfully complete the five core units of the Assistant Agent Certificate before commencing the remainder of the Certificate IV course.
2. To ensure suitability for the course each applicant must complete a screening interview with the Academic Manager or his representative.
3. To determine if supporting services may be required during the period of enrolment at CQ applicants will need to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) test
